Jo Sharp Desert Garden Aran Cotton, made in Italy

Desert Garden Aran Cotton is an extra soft, plied, aran-weight cotton yarn. Content of microfiber adds elasticity and additional softness to the cotton fiber. This yarn is manufactured in soft solid colours, and is suitable for fast knitting. Designs for the Desert Garden Aran Cotton can be found in a number of Jo Sharp Books.

When cotton plant are in stage of forming a white fluffy mass called boll, insecticides are spayed to protect the plants. A genetically engineered pest-resistant cotton is developed in Australia. This cotton variety protects cotton plants from the boll caterpillar which has developed powerful resistance to chemicals.

• Microfiber is an extremely fine, synthetic (or natural) fiber used to produce ultra light-weight yarns and fabrics. Mostly, it is available in polyester, nylon, acrylic and rayon.
